Travel Diary // Yogyakarta

January 31, 2018

It's been a month since my last trip to Yogyakarta together with a bunch of friends. It was such an amazing trip since it was our very first trip together by train which means we were trapped in there for hours and we had to find something interesting to do! 😂 After sitting for hours, we finally arrived to this city that we've only heard of before. For three days we just went exploring some parts of the city and some places outside the border of the city. Today, I'm going to share the visual diary of this trip to give you a glimpse of what our trip looked like. Let's take a look shall we.

We arrived at around 3 PM, then we headed to our hotel and had some rest. After a few hours had passed, we then went to one of the busiest street in Yogyakarta.

Malioboro Street

The first day ended with food and the second day also started with food. Here's what my breakfast looked like. It's always essential to start your day with breakfast, especially when you're traveling and planning to explore the city. Make sure to get all the energies you need 😉

After exploring two destinations, it's finally dinner time!! We had dinner at this restaurant called Handayani which was suggested by our driver. What's funny is that this restaurant has a branch in our city of origin, Surabaya, but since we've never had meals here before, we just decided to check this place out. It turned out that the food was really tasty yet it's rather pricey. It didn't really matter though because the price wasn't way too expensive and we had a pleasant dinner while enjoying the sound of the rain.

Moving on to day 3! On that day we went to Magelang to visit these two famous places there. When we were just planning the trips months ago, we were thinking of not going there at first, but we're already too close to the places that we decided that we should just go there. So, there we were, right after we were done with our breakfast.

After a long day with heat (yes, it was so freakin' hot in Borobudur, even though it was rainy season, no kidding!), we finally had our lunch/dinner at this Jamuran restaurant. They served various mushroom dish as the name implies, and they were all really delicious. One down side of this restaurant is its hygiene. The table was covered with lots of dust, and we initiated to clean it ourselves at that time. Other than that, it was an enjoyable meal time.

After we filled our stomach, our driver took us to the place of this famous bakpia: Bakpia Pathok 25! In this place I then bought some treats as souvenirs for my folks back home.

At the end of the day, we just went back to our hotel. I took some photos of our nice and comfortable hotel room just so that I can remember what it looked like in the future.

My friends and I were also having some a small party filled with lots of food since it was our last night in Yogyakarta. We were ordering room service and McDonalds 😂

Fourth day was our last day, the day we finally headed back home again. Here's the breakfast situation at that time:

Before noon we finally checked out of our lovely hotel, All Stay Hotel. It was such a nice budget hotel. The location wasn't really strategic, but it was really clean and comfortable.

Getting ready for our train ride home with some snacks!

Here we were, stuck in the train again, yet this time we were quite sad that it's already over. We were chatting, sleeping, eating, and having lots of fun time together as we took the train back to reality.

It's not the best feeling to have an holiday ends and the reality starts to hit you again, don't you agree? However life must goes on, and now as I'm writing and looking back to this trip, I feel so happy that this did happen in one point of my life. Let's just always cherish our beautiful memories ☺

This is it for my visual diary of my trip to Yogyakarta. Hope you're enjoying this collection of random photos that I took, and I can't wait to share more of my traveling experiences in the future.
Until then, see you on my next post! 😁
